Annette C. Boehm’s first book The Knowledge Weapon, winner of the Bare Fiction Debut Poetry Collection contest, will be released in July 2016. She serves as a poetry reader for Memorious — A Journal of New Verse and Fiction, and her poetry has appeared in the New Welsh Review, Bone Bouquet, Under the Radar, and the Journal of Compressed Creative Arts, among other places. Her chapbook The Five Parts of Love is available from Dancing Girl Press. Annette has lived in Germany, England, and the United States.
Victoria Kennefick is a native of Shanagarry, Co. Cork. A Fulbright scholar, she received her PhD in English Literature from University College Cork in 2009. Her debut poetry pamphlet, White Whale (Southword Editions, 2015), won the Munster Literature Centre Fool for Poetry Chapbook Competition and the Saboteur Award for Best Poetry Pamphlet 2015. In 2013 her poem, “Haruspex,” won the Red Line Book Festival Poetry Prize. Her manuscript was shortlisted for the Melita Hume Poetry Prize for Unpublished First Collection in 2014. Poems have appeared in an number of publications in print and online since 2012, these include: Poetry, The Stinging Fly, New Irish Writing in The Irish Times, Bare Fiction, The Penny Dreadful, And Other Poems, The Irish Examiner, The Malpaís Review, and Southword. Two poems featured in a special edition of Poetry Ireland Review (April 2016) entitled The Rising Generation, and her poem, “Cork Schoolgirl Considers the GPO O’Connell Street, Dublin 2016” was a poster poem on the DART. Poems appear or are forthcoming in the following anthologies: Best New British and Irish Poets (Eyewear Publications), The Emma Press Anthology of Mildly Erotic Verse Volume 2, The Poet’s Quest for God (Eyewear Publications), Wings of Glass (Second Light Publications), and #2PoetryAnthology (Vanguard).
Bare Fiction was set up to promote new writing in all forms through performance, digital representation and publication. They offer a platform for new creative writing across poetry, fiction and plays to encourage writers who are testing their boundaries. Robert Harper is the founding editor of Bare Fiction Magazine and artistic director of Bare Fiction Theatre Company. He holds a BA in Theatre Studies from RWCMD and has performed in hundreds of productions on radio, screen and stage throughout the UK. Currently completing an MA in Creative Writing (Poetry & Pedagogic Studies) at Manchester Metropolitan University, Robert is also the organiser and leader of the Shrewsbury Poetry Stanza. His poems have featured, or are forthcoming, in various magazines including The Interpreter’s House, Prole, Acumen, The Lonely Crowd, Ink Sweat & Tears, and in the anthologies ‘Fathers and What Must Be Said’, A New Manchester Alphabet , An Anthology to Seamus Heaney , and ‘#2PoetryAnthology’. He was Highly Commended in the Poetry Book Society Student Poetry Competition 2014.
