Walt Whitman Birthplace Association
Huntington Station, NY, USA

The Walt Whitman Birthplace Association (WWBA) is located at the historic site of Walt Whitman's birth in 1819. The organisation is dedicated to the preservation and interpretation of the birthplace for future generations. It maintains a 600-volume library that focuses on the poetry and life of Walt Whitman and includes an original edition of Leaves of Grass. The WWBA also hosts regular poetry readings, workshops, and other educational and cultural events. Each year the WWBA’s Board of Trustees selects a nationally-recognised poet to be its Poet-in-Residence.
